Population: 18,188 (2001) of which 6,727 live in Chora (Naxos Capital) and the rest mainly inhabit the island's numerous villages. The main villages are Filoti, Apiranthos, Tragea (Chalki), Koronos, Sangri, and Apollonas.
Area: 169 sq mi (428 sq km).
Climate: Typical Mediterranean climate, with summers that are hot a dry. Spring comes to the island in February, and the weather warm enough for swimming continues early November.

Access: Naxos has a local airport (JNX) with daily service from Athens International Airport. Naxos is a central hub in the sea transport system, and enjoys multiple connections in all directions. Ferry boats and high-speed catamaran services run daily from Piraeus.
Geography: The island of Naxos lies in the Aegean Sea in Cyclades islands group in Greece. It is nearly 35 kilometers long and has a good supply of water in a region where water is usually inadequate. Mount Zas (1,004 metres) is the highest peak in the Cyclades, and tends to trap the clouds, permitting greater rainfall.
